Year 6
Teachers: Mrs Bailey & Mrs Marlow (Job share)
Support TAs: Mrs Buswell & Mrs Spencer
The day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm. Children are allowed to walk to and from school on their own as long as we have a permission slip.
Our PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please ensure that on these days your child is wearing the correct PE kit and no jewellery: Black shorts / tracksuit bottoms, white t-shirt, school jumper/cardigan and trainers.
We follow the 2014 Primary National Curriculum and lessons are carefully sequenced to develop and build upon the children’s knowledge, understanding and skills. In Year 6 we encourage a love of learning and provide exciting opportunities such as going on trips and having WOW days to help foster this. The lessons are carefully sequenced to ensure that skills from previous years are built upon and secured. We value each child as an individual learner and help to provide them with the tools needed to progress to the next level of their development. During the Summer Term we work closely with all Secondary schools to ensure that children transition well and feel well prepared. We promote a love of learning through practical learning experiences and challenge through effective questioning and problem solving. This allows our children to take risks and develop their independence, preparing them effectively for entering Key Stage Three.
Homework is set weekly. This will involve a maths, reading and spelling task. There are also extra activities in the ‘curriculum overview tab on this webpage. The children are also expected to be reading each day and practising their times tables.
