Year 4
In Year 4 we follow the 2014 Primary National Curriculum. Lessons are carefully sequenced to develop and build upon the children’s knowledge, understanding and skills. We provide exciting opportunities such as going on trips and having WOW days to help foster this. We offer each child the ability to challenge, question, problem solve and explain through each part of the day in all subjects. We are wanting to develop independent, critical thinkers and do this by thinking about our character muscles and how they apply to aspects of our day, in and out of school.
The Year 4 day starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3:15pm. It’s incredibly important to us to have a good relationship between home and school to support your child with all aspects of their learning.
Year 4’s PE days are Thursday and Friday with swimming on a Thursday. Please ensure that your child is wearing their PE kit and comes to school with a water bottle. PE kit comprises plain black tracksuit bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and school jumper.
Homework is set weekly on MathsShed and SpellingShed and linked to the week’s learning. Your child has their log in details in their reading record book. It is important that your child completes their homework as it enhances the skills and knowledge taught in class.
